Things left in the room
SCREEN DOOR is a record assembled from rooms that kept making noise after everybody left: a back lot with the engine running, a porch with one chair loose, a pale square where a picture used to hang. The songs do not rebuild what happened. They let the objects testify.
Nine recordings move through the same neighborhood in different weather. Some arrive clean. Some drag the floor in with them. The final two are not bonus tracks so much as evidence that a song changes when the room starts answering back.

Leave some on the floor
Retrospectives usually clean the fingerprints off. This one leaves the cable through the kitchen, the silver under the nails, the bad horn, the chair with the missing screw. Memory is not restored here. It is played back until the static becomes part of the arrangement.
The screen door still sticks. Push twice. If you hear something from the other side, let it finish before you decide whether it was ever gone.
